In an oval frame that is flattened at the ends, stand a couple, with arms about each other, eye meets eye and soft words are whispered. It is a painting that shows the tranquility and pleasures of love in union. What is common in the two faces in profile is the look of fulfillment they are devoid of anxiety associated with love. Their features are perfect; limbs in proportion to their delicate forms; rich ornaments and fine clothing all speaking of a rich background. Not only do their eyes talk of never ending love, their body language reiterates it. The man offers his beloved a jewel but it is inconsequential to her as she gazes into her lovers eyes.
This painting is an elegant piece of art; the only flaw being at the bottom of it where the couple's image below the torso abruptly ends where the parapet starts. The overlapping mars the impact of a beautiful painting.
