Lakshmi-Ganesha-Sarasvati is an auspicious trinity. They are the presiding deities over wealth (resources), initiative (enterprise), and learning (art and aesthetics), respectively; and in many subcultures are considered siblings. The composite sculpture that you see on this page is a discrete set of three compact murtis.
At the very centre is Ganesha. Lakshmi is to His right, while Sarasvati is to His left. They are all seated on sizeable double-lotus thrones, which are placed on high, lotus-engraved plinths. In keeping with the traditional temple architecture of India, a pair of engraved pillars stand behind each throne. From the pillars rise a layered aureole with a Kirtimukham motif at the zenith.
Dense, strategically placed engravings add a wealth of detail to each of the figures: from the crowns on their heads and the perfect features of each face (despite the scale) to the ample adornments on their bodies. The lustrous golden colour of pure brass adds to the auspiciousness of this sculptural ensemble.
