“Gurura Brahma, Gurura Vishnu, Gurura Devo Maheshwara, Gurura Sakshata Prambrahma, Tasmaya Sri Guruvaiya Namaha”
A Guru or teacher is the embodiment of the powers of the creator (Brahma), the preserver (Vishnu) and the destroyer (Maheshwara). He is the form of the supreme truth; I bow down to the glory of Guru. The stature of the teacher in Indian tradition is at par with the divine beings, as the bestower of pure wisdom on his Shishya (disciple), and the sculptor of his life path. An ode to the aura of Guru-Shishya Parampara (tradition), this handmade copper wall décor depicts a Guru, wearing ascetic’s garbs, blessing a young disciple who has his hands in the Namaskara mudra, paying respect to the teacher. A splendid halo surrounds the countenance of the Guru and the Shishya, outlining the flow of knowledge between them.
