In Vajrayana Buddhism, Chakrasamvara or Khorlo Dompa (Tibetan) is a Tantric manifestation of the Enlightened One's power that is evoked once a disciple has gained oneness with the divine wisdom of Tathagata. The powerful Yab-Yum (father-mother) element of Chakrasamvara is depicted in this gilded copper statue from Nepal along with his Shakti-Vajrayogini. He is placed on a lotus pedestal and exudes an awe-inspiring force which is highlighted by the enflamed aureole that surrounds him.
