Manjushri is depicted in a classic Prajnaparamita form, with a double-edged flaming sword in his right hand and a lotus flower holding the Prajnaparamita sutra (Great Wisdom) scripture in his left. He can be seen seated on a lotus flower atop a moon disc.
The double-edged sword, known as Prajna Khadga or the sword of wisdom, symbolizes the sharpness of wisdom capable of cutting through the root of ignorance with its luminous rays. The scripture on the lotus flower represents wisdom as pure and untarnished as a lotus. The lion symbolizes the majestic authority of wisdom and emphasizes Manjushri's impartial and fearless teaching of Dharma.
