Kubera, a prominent figure in Hindu mythology, is recognized as the king of the yakshas, nature spirits, and revered as the god of wealth. His domain encompasses the earth, mountains, and all the hidden treasures, including valuable minerals and jewels that lie beneath the surface, symbolizing prosperity in its entirety. Kubera serves as the guardian of the north direction.
In depictions, Kubera is typically portrayed as a dwarf-like figure with a rotund belly, often holding a money bag or a pomegranate. Sometimes, he is shown riding on a human figure. Under different names such as Vaishravana and Jambhala, Kubera also plays significant roles in Buddhist and Jain mythology.
