The mighty Garuda in a selfless, devoted stance. Vahana of Lord Vishnu, Garuda is an anthropomorphic deity and is half-eagle. He is a protective deity,as could be deduced from His fierce composure, and considered the ruler of the bird kingdom.

The Garuda murti that you see on this page is made from brass. The metal is superimposed with thick layers of colour - vermillion for the complexion, shades of blue for the loincloth and the wings, crimson for the crown, and green and gold for the plinth. All deep, solid colours that bring out the resplendence of the gold adornment on His powerful form.

Note how the snakes at various junctures of the iconography are also the colour of gold. So are the dense serrations on His underwings.
