The supreme Purusha and Prakriti, male and female elements fused and appeared in front of Lord Brahma when he was constrained by his imagination in the task of creating the Universe. This gave Paramapita insight into the fundamental principles of creation, which are that male and female energy is at the center of all creative actions and that it is from their union that the Srishti of Brahma emerges.
The sacred vision of Ardhanarishvara is shown in this brass statue. Shiva appears on the right half of the murti, while Uma, who lives on the left, is his Vamangi, or wife, animating the left half.
The two share an elaborate hairdo, towering and adorned by a crescent moon. Fine ornaments, Yajnopavita (sacred thread), belly belt or Udarbandha, and tiger hide and silk dhoti (lower body garment) adorn the ethereal androgynous form. Beauty and activity are felt in the upright pose, ornate garment, and gesture of Uma, while Shiva conveys the dormant male energy, both fusing as the muse of Brahma and his creation.
