In Southern India, Devi Andal, a female Alvar (Vaishnava) saint, is worshipped as Sri Vishnu's celestial spouse. Using the strength of her Bhakti and Prema, she accomplished union with Chaturbhuja Narayana's divinity. With her unusual hairstyle and a garland around her neck, Andal is shown in this brass statue dressed as the bride of the Lord, standing on a lotus pedestal in a graceful pose, holding a lotus with a parrot perched on it.
