Brahma’s Shakti and the creator of all creativity, goddess Saraswati is an eternally revered Hindu goddess, depicted in this 2.8-foot-high granite artwork as a universal queen, seated on a throne with Kritimukha and Makara prabhavali, in her aspect as “Veenavadini”.
Sculpted as the deity of a sanctum, the statue of Devi Saraswati is beautifully adorned, with an ornate Jatamukuta (crown of tresses, an attribute of saintly figures), symbolizing Devi’s association with austerity, purity, and wisdom, surrounded by a blooming lotus aura, a universal motif of enlightenment.
With finesse, the ornaments and garments of the goddess are sculpted, visible in the naturalistic texture of her silk garments and the richness of her jewelry.
The blooming lotus that is her seat has been transformed into a Padma-peetha (lotus platform), every petal of which is delicately depicted. With her smile giving a nod of appreciation to the work of the sculptor, the mother of arts makes her appearance known in this granite masterpiece.
