The Pasha or Noose is a very important element of iconography in Hindu sculptures. Lord Ganesha is seen holding the Pasha. It symbolizes his ability to capture arrogance, illusion, and ignorance and help mankind move from darkness toward light. This brass lamp with extensive use of the symbol of Pasha solidifies the concept of the ability of the weapon to remove darkness.
The lamp is also provided with a peacock symbol atop symbolising grandeur and an elephant at the base providing stability. The lamp has five wicks and the entire structure is further elevated on a chowki. The design of the lamp is breathtaking and full of auspicious symbolism. This is not only a piece of ritual significance but also a manifestation of high-level craft skills.
