Chenrezig, also known as Shadakshari Lokeshvara, is a prominent Bodhisattva in Tibetan Buddhism. Chenrezig’s two front hands are in a devotional gesture, clasped in front of his jewel-draped heart. His upper right-hand holds a crystal rosary (Akshamala) which is a symbol of the never-ending cycle. The Lotus in his left hand represents how he liberates sentient beings from hellish realms and the murky waters of suffering to the pure states of enlightenment. He is seated on a lotus podium and dressed in silk robes, with both legs in the “diamond pose” of meditation. This sacred brass sculpture serves as a reminder to cultivate kindness and compassion on one’s spiritual path.
