When the demarcation of sacred spaces began in Hinduism, among the first ones to get their sphere of influence carved were the Yakshas. These demi-gods were revered across sects owing to their abilities to provide boons of wealth and prosperity. Their king, Yaksharaja Kubera is worshipped today across India by seekers of money and opulence.
This brass Kubera murti shows the lord of all riches sitting on a simple asana. His face looks tranquil, his right hand raised in Varada mudra, giving boons to his devotees and his left-hand is holding a bowl of coins. Near his right leg is a full pot of jewel and on his left, we see a mongoose. Mongoose is shown with Kubera in Buddhist and Tibetan iconography, associating it with control over the Nagas and wealth. This compact brass statue can be placed in your home to ensure lord Kubera’s blessings on you and your fortunes.
