The interesting thing about ukanite, a naturally occurring stone, is that it metamorphoses to include more than one colour. Structurally, it is at once pink, green, and vitreous (colourless). The Ganesha sculpture that you see on this page brings out these virtues of ukanite.
It is a rudimentary composition of Ganesha’s elephant head. Miniature; would look great in any nook and cranny around your space. The colour green, from the epidote elements of ukanite, is predominant in the work. Followed by a pale, earthy pink (from the orthoclase feldspar).
Shapely silhouette of the ears. The tip of the trunk grazes upon a bowlful of his favourite laddoos. The mushaka-vahana (mouse-mount) is as conspicuous as the laddoos in a bowl, indicative of the importance of both in Ganesha iconography.
