The tutelary deity is the Matrika Varahi, the Shakti of Vishnu and the commander of Maha-Shakti's army during cosmic conflicts, in the potent Hindu-Tantric tradition known as the Varahi Tantra. Devi Varahi is depicted in this small brass statue in a position of repose, sitting on a lotus throne, wearing a lovely saree, and accessorized exquisitely. She takes the appearance of Ashtabhuja, which means "eight-armed," to emphasize her celestial abilities and is surrounded by an aureole to highlight her divine aura.
