In this small handmade brass icon, the goddess Mariamman, often referred to as the “South Indian Durga” is presented in a divine manner. Devi Mariamman sits in Lalitasana, on a lotus throne, adorned with ethnic attire and royal ornaments. Holding mighty weapons, goddess Mariamman is shaded by a five-hooded serpent which is the symbol of the powers of Kundalini as well as Chidagni (the fire of consciousness), which forms a halo around her beautiful face.
