A traditional Pooja Plate, also known as a Pooja Thali, is an item used to give food to the deities in traditional Indian temples and personal worship areas. They are frequently used to store other ceremonial necessities such as kumkum, uncooked rice, and Chandan paste. These dishes are also embellished with flowers and some diyas to enhance the visual appearance of a ceremony. It's constructed of brass, a durable and corrosion-resistant metal alloy. The Thali's flat circular form is etched with digital or traditional patterns of dancing peacocks around a center peacock picture. Some thalis are hand-etched, while others are machine-engraved.
