Lord Ganesha is revered as the primary deity in Hinduism; he is the Lord of the lords and is worshipped before the start of any event as a symbol of purity.
It is often opined that worshipping Ganesha generates a light of auspiciousness which creates an aura of love and righteousness.
He sits here in lalitasana on a lotus pedestal carved with realistic curvy ends of petals and the base inlayed with red, green and blue reconstituted stones.
The bright golden color of this sculpture highlights its very essence of divinity and the inlayed stone work compliments beautifully with it.
Lavishly inlayed dhoti and angarakha adorned on his body beautify the personality of this statue, while the large flappy ears are decorated in blue stones and a border of beads. Chaturbhuja holds his iconic weapons in his posterior hands and the right anterior hand is held high granting a boon of fearlessness to his devotees. The left anterior hand carries a motichoor laddoo highlighting his sweet tooth. The long crown that glorifies his head is embellished with layers of reconstituted stones and a red broch in the centre.
Ganesha is the easiest identifiable god in the entire pantheon because of his elephant-head; his trunk is chiseled here in an alluring floral design from top to bottom in a vertical pattern with the auspicious symbol of om marking the starting point. The trishul mark on his forehead remembers the divine blessings of his father, Lord Shiva.
