Linga is the unmanifest & yoni, the female organ is manifest and here it is seen embracing the Linga. There can be no creation without the relation of opposites. The union of a perceiver and a perceived, of a passive and an active principle, of a male and a female organ is essential for creation to take place. Thus the Linga is most often worshipped together with yoni.

Forming the boundary wall of the yoni.-bhaga are two cobras with their fiery heads forming a parasol over the Siva-linga. Siva is intimately connected and profusely associated with serpents. However snakes are also associated with the idea of kundalini or sexual energy. With all the above symbols coming together, this brass work achieves the status of presenting all of Siva's energies a prized possession for any Shaivite devotee.
