This Nepalese statue of Sri Ganesha, crowned and festooned with regalia, is reminiscent of his Indian images as a universal ruler, known as "Raja Ganapati" (ruler Ganesha). Crafted from brass, the statue exudes an antique charm that appeals to the senses. The sophisticated regional aesthetics also contribute to the composition's heavenly atmosphere.
Perched atop a throne in Lalitasana, Ganesha rests his foot on a lotus footrest that he shares with his rat or Mushaka. The elephant god is adorned with an ethnic crown, simplistic decorations, and a serpent garland. The facial features of the elephant are shown in a manner that is uniquely Nepalese. Ganesha lifts his primary right hand in the Abhaya gesture, holding an ax, a bowl of sweets, and a rosary.
