Lakshmi in her Chaturbhuja roopa is a Vedic idea, as a powerful and benevolent goddess that embodies the wealth and fertility of earth.
Presenting the goddess in an earthy lacquered wood, this sculpture focuses on Lakshmi as the most beautiful and perfect feminine.
She wears a long Vaishnava crown, holds lotuses, and gestures of Abhaya and Varada, sitting in Padmasana or lotus pose on a blooming lotus that is her abode.
A masterful translucent and detailed appearance has been achieved in wood by the master artist. The statue has been carved in a rounded manner, making it appear as if the heavenly mother has descended from it.
The pedestal for the goddess is shaped like two Havana-Kunda placed on one another, adding a sacred element to the wooden statue as if Lakshmi is emerging from the sacrificial fire, ready to bless the devotee.
