Bhagawan Vishnu here stands firmly on his two feet - holding his attributes of chakra and conch in his rear hands. His front right hand is raised in the gesture of blessing, while the left palm, facing down, supports his gada (mace). The sculpture has a firm, grounded stability, celebrating Lord Vishnu’s status as the ‘Axis of world’. He is the sturdy pillar that joins the earth to the heavens. Indeed, to his devotees, a formal, hieratic representation of Vishnu - their refuge and protector - standing like a mighty pillar, is a deeply comforting sight. This bronze statue of Bhagawan Vishnu is richly adorned with a range of jewellery and he wears a tall cylindrical crown from which escaping locks of hair rest along his shoulders. His long patterned dhoti falls down clinging to his feet. His feet rest upon an upturned lotus, which in turn is placed upon a rectangular lotus pedestal.
