The antique aesthetic of copper is used by the sculptor in this goddess Tara statue from Nepal, to bring out the spiritual quality of the Bodhisattva. Tara stands on a splendidly sculpted platform, poised like the lithesome lotuses in her hands. Her luxuriously youthful form and diaphanous clothes are marvelously presented. Haloed by a distinctively Nepalese aura, Tara has an ethereally charming face. Her right knee is gently bent as if the goddess is about to take a step. Such animated Tara icons symbolize her swiftness in salvaging those who call upon the supreme saviouress.
