The most powerful Vajrayana goddess is Vajrayogini or Vajravarahi, a female yogi who has the potent abilities of Vajra (a Buddhist symbol for supreme wisdom), and whose awe-inspiring form is a representation of her unfathomable potential. This Nepalese statue of Vajrayogini is made of copper and surrounded by a fiery aureole that complements her raised hair. The Vajrayogini's fanged mouth, flaring nostrils, and furrowing brows give the icon a powerful theatrical value. The Tantric goddess, adorned with heavenly decorations and skulls, dances over a body representing people who cross the Dhamma's path.
