Lakshmi-Ganesha, the pair that ignites manifestation of prosperity and good fortune

It is common to venerate both Goddess Lakshmi and Shri Ganesha on Diwali. Goddess Lakshmi is regarded as the Deity of wealth, prosperity, elegance, and success (both worldly and metaphysical), whilst Lord Ganesha is renowned as the remover of impediments, benefactor of the arts and the sciences, and the 'Deva' of wisdom and intelligence.

People idolize these two deities with each other to attract wealth and intellect into their existence. Diwali isn't an exception, as no celebration is perfect without invoking Lord Ganesha. Ganesha is regarded as the conqueror of all limitations. As a consequence, He is venerated first in order to eradicate any obstacles to our development. There is an interesting legend behind why Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped with Lord Ganesha.

The Story behind worshiping the two deities together

Conforming to the legends, Goddess Lakshmi once grew egotistical about Her power and affluence. The majority of the admirable qualities present in the cosmos emanate through her. She is the wellspring of all the riches. She is strength and power, wordly affluence, physical wellbeing, attractiveness, and elegance. She symbolizes intellectual peace, happiness, a positive outlook, and feeling of calmness.

On a higher plane, she symbolizes all of the spiritual qualities or siddhas, such as humility, compassion, concentration, and selfless sacrifice. She continued glorifying Herself throughout a conversation with Her husband, Lord Vishnu, claiming because She's the only one deserving of praise. She is the individual who bequeaths wealth and prosperity on anyone and everyone.

Lord Vishnu sought to eliminate Her vanity after witnessing Her egotistical nature. Lord Vishnu remarked gently that although a woman achieves every one of the qualities, she remains imperfect when she does not bear children. Motherhood is the ultimate pleasure a woman can have, and since Lakshmi did not have any children, she was unable to be deemed complete. Goddess Lakshmi was extremely disappointed once she discovered this.

Goddess Lakshmi turned to Goddess Parvati seeking assistance. Because Parvati had 2 sons, she begged that the Goddess permit Her to foster one among Her sons so that she could experience the pleasure of maternity. Parvati was apprehensive about allowing Lakshmi to raise Her son since Lakshmi is infamous for traveling around frequently. As a consequence, she would find it difficult to provide for Her son.

But Lakshmi guaranteed her she would care for Her baby in each and every way possible and shower Him with happiness. Sensing Lakshmi's suffering, Goddess Parvati allowed Her to raise Ganesha as Her son. Goddess Lakshmi was delighted and announced that She was going to bestow the entirety of Her accomplishments and wealth on Ganesha. Individuals seeking Lakshmi's graces for riches would be required to first appease Ganesha.

Those few who revere Lakshmi with the exception of Ganesha are unlikely to be rewarded by the Goddess. As a consequence, Lakshmi has always been worshiped besides Ganesha on Diwali. Acquiring riches sans intelligence would only contribute to mishandling of the riches. As a consequence, one needs to first acquire the intelligence to invest one's wealth sensibly.

As a consequence, Lakshmi and Ganesha are both revered jointly. The bond involving the Devi and Shri Ganesha resembles that of a mother-son relationship. The husband must always remain to the right of the wife, as per Hindu traditions. Lord Ganesha's exact position is to the left of Devi Lakshmi since he is the adopted child of Lakshmi.
