THE ART OF SELF-MANAGEMENT External world is nothing but a reflection at inner self. Expertise in managing activities in the external world intrinsically depends on how well a person can manage his own self. Self-management is the first step in the pursuit of excellence in management.
There are two important aspects of self-management, first, awakening the brilliance that normally lies dormant within and second, developing the right way of thinking. These help in overcoming weaknesses that unknowingly become a part of our personalities and in finding solutions to problems that routinely arise at workplace. Developing holistic outlook, creating well thought out plans, acquiring technical knowhow, appropriate deployment of inner and outer resources, finding the right associates, mature handling of personnel issues etc. are some o the key managerial skills.
In personal lives too, management acumen helps attain personal goals. To create a better world, it is necessary to teach management skills to everyone, in schools as well as workplaces.
