The Body's Dance The Soul's Play

Introduction When we view the beautiful creation ranging from the largest and the most complex beings to tiny insects crawling on the earth, we find two common elements: the body and its movement. The body is manifested in visible form, but the indwelling invisible spirit directs its movement. We see the puppets dance, but often forget that the string puller orchestrates the movements. It is the body's dance we see, but the soul is at play within. Casual observers often ignore this truth and consider the body as the ultimate manifestation of reality. Such gross misunderstanding is the cause of suffering. Exclusive focus on the apparent reality of the body leads to the fear of degeneration, disease, death, loss of identity, and so on. The body passes through natural stages of transformation but the soul within is imperishable, eternal. A spiritual seeker with the step-by-step teaching and gradual unveiling from the divine guide realizes that an individual is not the body but the soul free from all boundaries and one with the eternal creator, God. This is the path for freedom from all suffering. A child looks at the body through extrovert senses but when trained in the right way looks within and experiences the beauty of the soul and then declares, I am That. A realized being says:

Ko' ham           Who am I?
deham ?           Am I the Body ?
naham             I am not.
so' ham         I am That.
