Samuel Israel held senior positions in Indian publishing over the last thirty years. He has been Editorial Director, Asia Publishing House; Managing Editor in Tata McGraw-Hill and The Macmillan Co. of India; Director, National Book Trust, India; and Director and General Manager, Orient Longman Ltd. He has served two terms (1987-93) as a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Book Trust, India, being, during his second term, also a member of its executive committee.
