About The Book This book "Concise Textbook of Repertory with Preparatory Manual" is a complete work in terms of knowledge of Repertories. This book is a sincere effort to provide the study material of various repertories at one place along with objective type of questions and short answer questions for the purpose of various competitive examinations. This book will help students find the basic knowledge of different repertories at one place and that too in a concise way. To make this book easily comprehensible only necessary points in short are given and wherever necessary the language has been simplified. Immediately after theory, short questions along with answer are given to give better understanding to students. After short answers, multiple choice questions are given with answer key. Approximately 30 repertories in this book have been covered in this book. This book will serve as an incentive to BHMS, PG, as well as those students who are preparing for different competitive exams. About the Author Prof. RAJAN SINGH SOOD B.Sc, BHMS, MD, PGDHHM, M.PHILL(HOSPITAL & HEALTH SYSTEM), PhD is ex-principal and Presently Professor, Department of repertory, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Dabok, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. He was earlier posted as Principal of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Dabok, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. His key positions in various capacities in organization, National awards, guest lectures and publications have given ample experience. He had a brilliant academic medical career throughout his medical course and received several positions in his career. He is examiner, paper setter and paper moderator for the BHMS, Hospital Management, DMLT, DMRT, CSI and PhD courses in JanardanRai Nagar Rajastha Vidyapeeth University, Pacific University Udaipur, Rajasthan University Jaipur, Devi Ahilyabai University Indore, Ayurved University Jodhpur and Nasik University.

Preface Dear readers in Homoeopathy I am pleased to present you the book "Concise Textbook of Repertory with Preparatory Manual". The book shall make you feel complete in terms of knowledge of repertory as you reach towards the end of the book. In my 22 years of teaching experience I noticed that the study material of repertory is scattered and students may feel cumbersome and confused what to write and how to write in exams. For various competitive examinations students have to consult different repertories/books for the original literature so I have made a sincere attempt to compile maximum study material at one place along with objective type of questions and short answer questions for various examinations.

To make this book easily comprehensible only necessary points in short are given and wherever necessary the language has been simplified. Immediately after theory, short questions along with answer are given to give better understanding to students. After short answers, multiple choice questions are given with answer key. I have covered approximately 30 repertories in this book. I hope my book will serve as an incentive to BHMS, PG, as well as those students who are preparing for different competitive exams. In spite of best care and attention some mistakes might have crept in for which I request my readers to kindly bring into our notice so that rectifications can be done in subsequent editions. Any constructive suggestions from teachers and students will be thankfully accepted and considered for further improvement in future editions.

Foreword Iam indeed privileged to write foreword for the book written by my revered teacher Prof. (Dr.) Rajan Singh Sood. Since the introduction of central syllabi for under graduates and post graduates, the subject of Repertory has created awareness in the teaching institutions. Teachers of Repertory have to depend upon the available literatures particularly the prefaces written by publishers. Author's idea to give a most comprehensive account of some important and common topics in all aspects. Students in Homoeopathy are confused in the subject at many occasions due to high standard logic. My teacher has put in earnest endeavor to simplify the language of the subject. Another most distinguishing feature of this work is, teacher also gave solved MCQs, short answer questions and long answer questions to give clear understanding to students about the answer writing skills in examination. I am confident, this book will immensely contribute in addressing the problems of students, teachers and practitioners in comprehending the intricacies of Repertory subject. I wish all the success for this venture.

Introduction Broadly, if we see the general arrangement of any repertory we will majorly find 3 things: 1. Many sections 2. Symptoms and 3. Remedies. The systematic and logical arrangement of all the symptoms of the body from head to toe are divided into different sections. By this arrangement it is convenient and easy to find out desired symptoms. Under the sections, different symptoms from materia medica are written systematically; and under the symptoms, we will find different medicines in different grades.

So Repertory can be defined as: "It is an index of logically and systematically arranged symptoms of Homoeopathic materia medica and under symptoms corresponding remedies in different grades are present."

According to Universal dictionary, it is a store house of useful information; or collection, stock of plays or songs.

The repertory word originated from French word - Repertorium Latin word - Rapertire According to Webster dictionary, The word repertory originates from latin word "Repertoire" or late latin word "repertorium". Word repertorium again is derived from the Latin word "rapertus" which is the past participle of "Reperire". Parire (Older form or parere)- To bring forth, to produce, to get. Parire word is similar to "parent" i.e. father or mother (origin or source), so Repertus or repertorium or repertory means reproduction means production of similar object of situation, it is a place where the things are kept to bring forth again.
