Preface

Homeopaths give great importance to mental symptoms and mental rubrics than any other medical professional, but selecting a suitable mental rubric is not an easy job due to various difficulties. Hence, some practitioners either ignore the mental rubrics or select the same in a wrong way, which ultimately may lead to wrong remedy selection. The commonly asked doubt by the beginners and the students is, "how to take mental symptoms, and how to convert those symptoms into rubrics?" The best way is to let the patient freely talk about the life situations and significant events, which will express the attitude, emotional issues, and the impact of those situations in his or her life. The words of the patients will guide us to a list of rubrics, from which we can select the most suitable rubric/s. We can also observe the way they come to our consultation chamber, their nature and behavior. Sometimes, their behavior with the staff and other bystanders can give some hint for rubric selection.

So let us discuss some common difficulties in selecting mental rubrics. Some mental rubrics given in the repertories are confusing as the one who made the repertory has not given its exact meaning. but others who have explained those rubrics have given either direct meaning of the rubric or its indirect expression. Explanation to rubrics and the word meaning as per the repertorian must be included within the repertories. Some words have meaning beyond the dictionary meaning, which are considered as double meaning rubrics. For example, rubrics such as 'Kill', 'Escape'. 'High places', etc. have double meaning. "Kill' means not only a desire to kill a person, but it covers desire to stop others by our talk or our overpowering nature. Similarly, 'Escape' not only means escape from house or window, but escape from a life situation. Likewise, 'high places' not only means high altitudes and high buildings, but also means high position in life and profession. Therefore, we need to understand a rubric beyond the dictionary meaning.

Foreword

The work by Dr Muhammed Rafeeque and Dr J. P. Salini, "Reverse Repertory of the Mind - Words to Mental Rubrics" is a unique work in analyzing and decoding the rubrics of mind. Since one of the main problems we encounter in practice, is the conversion of the patient's symptoms in the proper language of the repertory.

We usually come across a number of mental and physical symptoms while taking the case. Unfortunately, we tend to neglect those symptoms due to our ignorance or lack of knowledge in converting them into the correct rubrics.

This book discusses the common difficulties in selecting mental rubrics and how to over come the same issues. Many rubrics have same meaning in the language dictionary, but the meaning or interpretation of such rubrics may be different.

This book will help the new generation doctors and students in overcoming the problems in the interpretation of rubrics - since clinical situations, patients narrations are given first, followed by the rubric and important remedies.

I recommend this book to those who wants to use the repertory in the correct way and giving good results to the suffering humanity.
