What is the oldest Hindu text?

Vedas are considered the oldest sacred text in Hinduism. The Sanskrit word “Veda” refers to complete knowledge, both material and spiritual. The Vedas are divided into four books, Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda, and Atharva Veda. The Vedas are called “Apaurusheya”, which means that these are not man-made but have originated directly from the Supreme Personality of Godhead Krishna. Later on, these were compiled by Vyasadev, the Supreme authority on Vedic knowledge, which was then passed down through disciplic succession (Guru Parampara).
