The Need for formal Text-Book in the Vedic Religion for use of the Graduate students at the B.Sc. and B.A. levels has long been felt but never fulfilled.

Although it is half century since India became politically independant yet there is no University, or College that offers a Degree course in Vedic Hindu Religion to our youngsters. That too for a half century, is nothing short of a cultural genocide of a whole generation!

Since the establishment of this University of Vedic Sciences which offers a formal Degree course in Vedic Sciences and Vedic Religion in 1994, the need for a formal Text-Book is more accutely felt by the students as also teachers who can depend upon a readily digested and processed teaching material. The need was also widely expressed during my lecture-tour in U.S.A. in 1985 and also by the general public, when I happened to deliver a Talk on the Vedic Religion in 1993 at the 'World Parliament Religions' in Chicago. The present "Consise Text-Book of Vedic Hinduism" is therefore, specifically prepared with the object of meeting such a demand for teaching and study material.
