For centuries devotees of Lord Vittala have sung songs of devotion in his praise. They put their names before the concluding lines to point out that these concepts which burst forth from their heart helped them live in peace with themselves and in harmony with others. Much in the same way, the divine verses in this book represent the change of heart in a keen spiritual seeker who was fortunate to visit his Guru, Ramesh Balsekar, every morning. The format of these verses (abhangas) is simple and easy to understand; a few lines dealing with a particular aspect of the Final Understanding followed by a forceful summation - akin to an arrow that embeds itself in the heart, circumventing the intellect.
