Divya Darshan is neither any community nor any creed, neither any bloc nor any sect. The ultimate goal of man is to become divine and realise divinity. Divya Darshan is therefore a way of life, a way to true and divine life. It belongs to none and at the same time belongs to everybody. He, who knows it, owns it.
According to Divya Darshan, "Ignorance is the cause of sufferings. Ignorance breeds sins and sins cause sufferings. If you want to live, be dutiful. If you want peace and happiness, possess divine virtues. If you desire liberation, acquire self-knowledge. Love others if you yearn for good will; be truthful and humble if you want blessings; hold unto love if you want bliss; try to know your true self if you want liberation from all sufferings. God resides as all-pervasive, eternal and infinite Pure-consciousness. Possess divine qualities and realize Him to enjoy bliss. This is no life at all. To know Him who has infused life into this life is true life which is the goal of every one. To know the Law of Eternity is knowledge and observing the same is Dharma. Whatever faith or religion you may belong to, liberation is unattainable without self-knowledge. Man being absolutely divine, he should pursue divine knowledge and acquire divine virtues."
His holiness Sadguru Sri Sri Arjun, a saint from Odisha presented Divya Darshan' or the Philosophy Divine to the world in the year 1976. Born to a tribal family in the year 1933 in the hilly region of Rayagada District in Odisha and just a literate up to standard VIII, he got his enlightenment in the year 1967 and thereafter gave a very lucid and original elucidation of Truth, Consciousness, Creator and the Creation He was working for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited at Sunabeda till he shed his mortal body in 1989.
Man is a lovely creation by the Creator. He alone is gifted with inquisitiveness 165 and knowledge and also receptivity. The sages called humans as scions of immortality. But man forgets his creator who is the basis of everything, who is both the efficient cause and material cause of the creation. He forgets his own self. He evinces interest in knowing all others except his own self. He is not aware of the fact that self is the source of all happiness, peace. The Supreme power descends on earth as Sadguru and sages at different times to reveal Self-knowledge, which is true. That is why, true knowledge has been flawlessly handed down from Vedic and Upanishadic ages. Supreme Truth is unchangeable. It exists eternally. But ignorance about true knowledge causes distortions and deviations as a result of which there is mal-observance of duties and responsibilities in the society. Man does a lot of work life time with his own selfish motives for attainment of peace but he is not aware of what the human goal is and what should -suits to reach the goal to really do justice to his human birth. As a result astray and meets with some successes and failures during his wanderings but the human goal remains far away in an unknown _ continues for ever and death is not the end of it. It undergoes transformation but never any sort of destruction. In other words, eternal and immortal. Knowledge of this is true knowledge which - realized and preached for the benefit of mankind from time to time.
During the past 200 years many scientific inventions pertaining to the physical world of matters have come to light. But still so may unsolved questions on consciousness and mind etc. remain to be answered. To define consciousness, consciousness is the pre-requirement. In other words, consciousness is something that cannot be perceived from any point outside consciousness. Self-consciousness can be realized by self only. To perceive, to realize, to discover, to analyze, to ask or to explain consciousness is first involved.
While scientific inventions are many and varied, a few of them are recapitulated here. The indestructibility and transformation of energy and matter has been established. Many truths regarding the universe, stars, planets and nebulae, animals and plants etc. have been unfolded. Ranging from gross matters to god particles, black hole to dark energy, Law of gravitation to the theory of relativity, the great scientists have covered different dimensions and constituents of the material world and thereby raised the level of human knowledge to greater height. Consequently, the approach and angle of vision to spirituality have also changed. The age-old religious practices or rituals are being evaluated under the lenses of scientific knowledge. Against this backdrop, Divya Darshan or The Philosophy Divine propounded by Sadguru Sri Sri Arjun has made its appearance in a compact and compatible manner that suits well to the needs of mankind.
The philosophy Divine is replete with true knowledge based on non-dualistic principles by which man can arouse the inert power within, blossom the latent divine virtues while honouring The Law of Eternity for taking care of not only his own existence but ensuring happy and peaceful social living ultimately to get rid of the ignorance-generated sufferings, conflicts, doubts and delusions, and realise his immortal, divine true self which is all-pervasive Pure Consciousness.
True knowledge is a subject of self-experience. However, sincere attempts have been made by sages of yester years to explain it by advancing various examples to drive home the subtle knowledge. Today, we can cite different examples with the help of scientific knowledge to be more convincing. We can talk of the relationship between energy, matter and the latest god particles that lead to unitary aspect of the creation. A few centuries back, we knew that the trees gave us only fruits, flowers and shadows. Now we know that the plants release oxygen and absorb carbon-dioxide, that they have been using solar energy for preparation of their food. This change in the level of knowledge helps us to analyze, understand, appreciate and accept spirituality in a better manner.
The seed of Divya Darshan was sown in a remote village named Gudiabandh of Gunupur Sub-Division in undivided Koraput District of Odisha by Sadguru Sri Sri Arjun who had studied up to standard VIII only. He had not studied any scriptures. Divya Darshan is a self-revelation in a unique and simple style in Odia language.
We must acknowledge the efforts of Sri Rabindranath Mohanty, Vice-President of Divya Darshan Sangha who has made the English version of Divya Darshan so as to spread Sadguru's teachings far and wide.
Let the darkness of ignorance be dispelled on the advent of true knowledge. Let sins and sufferings vanish. Let this knowledge percolate down and bring enlightenment to one and all.
Divya Darshan presents Truth, Law of Eternity and Dharma in a unique, simple and lucid manner. The sages have shown many paths to realize the imperishable or immortal Atman. Six systems of philosophy are before us. Many spiritual paths are shown. That knowledge has been handed down to us from time immemorial. Divya Darshan reiterates the Truth in an intelligible and acceptable manner, which may suit the present-day discerning mankind.
Divya Darshan is not a group or bloc, not a clan or community or creed. It is life itself. It belongs to none. It belongs to everyone. He, who knows it, gets it.
The question is after the six systems of philosophy, why Divya Darshan again? In the Vedant Darshan all the essential subjects have been dealt in detail. The sage, Vyasadev has presented all secrets of spirituality in his Vedant philosophy. Vyasadev, keeping in view the standard of knowledge and spiritual understanding of the then society, had presented Vedant philosophy in the contemporary language and style which is not easily comprehensible now. Divya Darshan presents the secrets of knowledge in its original style to suit the present day mankind. The Truth is unchangeable. Only language and style may differ in explaining the same Truth.
Self belongs to everyone. It is universal. The knowledge centering on the Self must be universal too. 'Universalizing the secrets of spirituality'-That is what Divya Darshan aims at. Hence Divya Darshan communicates this highest philosophy in a very plain language without coverings or ornamentation.
With the passage of time, knowledge also is expressed differently. With the development in scientific fields, man has been employing new techniques in his day to day life. The scientific man is now more competent and capable of manipulating the energy as well as matter to its benefit. Divya Darshan tries to emphasize, while imparting knowledge, the unchangeable essence that forms the basis of all discoveries and inventions made in course of the scientific quests and observations.
Divya Darshan analyses the relation between matter and energy, the properties of matter, the properties of energy and lastly the fourth state of matter by means of scientific truths and powerful reasoning.
Divya Darshan, by its subtle analysis and insightful presentation, aims at doing away with the human obsession with mundane matters and turning his attention towards the Consciousness, which systematically but unnoticing evolves itself to subtle and gross forms traversing long distances, undergoing modifications galore and casting in its spell, various illusory effects on the ignorance- afflicted human mind that just gets puzzled, not being able to comprehend with his circumscribed vision the enormous tricks involved in the divine game plan.
To believe that God is confined to a particular religious spot is a challenge to His all-pervasiveness. Any assertion, that we only are the children of God and others are not, is self- contradictory. Inflicting damage on others and fishing sadistic pleasure from the sufferings of others are doubtlessly, not the symptoms of religious conduct. Neither colored robes nor intellectual discourses on religion make one religious. True religion is not just a temporary arrangement crafted by man's whims nor is it a random product of imagination. It is neither a mechanism propelled by mob-psychology nor a eulogized doctrine asserted and upheld with some hysteric clamour.
Religion is for God realization and not for fanning fanaticism. True religion is based on certain permanent processes and principles called `Truth' that existed even before the creation, caused and conditioned the creation and it evolved itself from subtle to the gross undergoing innumerable modifications, unfolding all diversities and heterogeneities which are subject to further changes, promising the golden possibilities of newer and newer creations of higher order. The underlying truth, however remains unchanged eternally at the sub-stratum as a homogeneous unity or the supra-causal factor which is itself uncaused and unconditioned.
