Ever wondered whether The Holy Ghost' in Christianity and 'Bhoothnath' in Hinduism, or the concept of The formless God' as Allah and as Shiva, has more to it than meets the eye? Is there a common strand that binds them all? How does Shiva's third eye destroy everything, and how does Brahma's mind create anything? Well, if you are one of those curious thinkers who keep looking for scientific evidence that give meaning to mythological tales, then get ready to be amazed. The hidden gems uncovered in this book will surprise you.
Drawing from biology, archaeology, cosmology, geology, topology, anaesthesiology, radiology, and quantum physics, 'Finding Shiva' offers a fascinating journey into the essence of Indian gods. Surprisingly, it also touches upon prophets and deities from diverse religions in ways you've never imagined. It explores a trail of breadcrumbs that gods might have laid for us to explore, and has something in it for everybody.
Gaurav is a Chemical Engineer with an MBA. He has a diverse professional background spanning production, quality, operations, consulting, education, and more recently, writing. The founder of Jag Educate, a career consulting and Test Prep company, Gaurav has successfully guided many 'underdogs' to prestigious global universities.
His multifaceted experiences encompassing various fields provided a rich foundation for 'Finding Shiva,' which has garnered widespread acclaim from both young and seasoned readers. The decision to delve into the intersection of science and mythology was sparked by the perennial question about life's purpose, a query frequently posed to him by his students. Their curiosity became the catalyst for his writing, prompting him to craft a work that not only invites readers to explore the marvels of life and the universe but also encourages critical thinking. Like he says, "We may still be far away from the answers, but if we have started asking the right questions then we are on the right path.
Finding Shiva is a journey into the realm at the confluence of science, philosophy, mythology, and metaphysics. It is a book that attempts to nudge people into the beautiful process of critical thinking and seeking, for what are humans if not explorers. Personally, I love science, and every time I feel I am getting a stronger hold of some complex subject matter, it seems to slip away from me as deeper questions arise in my mind.
Writing this book was no ordinary journey for me as I wrestled with ideas and struggled keeping the word count to under one lakh words, although I failed, as many topics I picked to write this book could have their own separate books. In that sense, I hope the readers forgive me for missing out on something they hoped would get covered in the book.
The first question to answer should be whether I am seeking answers to the right question. As an educator, I have felt that our education system has become more information oriented than learning oriented. I hope that educators who are reading this book are inspired to focus more on helping young people in appreciating and understanding the deeper implications of important questions correctly first than jumping straight into answering them with all the information they have about it.
Through this book, I also intend to show how fascinating our universe is, and how interesting our existence is if you keep an open mind. Sincere science does not dismiss mythology, nor does ancient mythology imply it is beyond science; keeping an open mind to possibilities will make us true explorers. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had writing it.
