Mr. Bharat Bhushan Padmadeo has been writing a regular Sunday column titled 'Astroturf' for The Daily Pioneer, a leading English News Paper published from New Delhi and other seven cities in India for 18 years now. The subjects covered are Life Sciences, Spirituality and Astrology.

With a background in Physics, he has a scientific outlook, which adds a new dimension to the enquiries he makes into the subjects, he explores. He comes up with valuable innovative ideas, which are relevant and practical. He also has a fair understanding of the varying dynamics of energy flux, which are excited by Nature, having a direct bearing on Human Life.
As an ardent spiritual seeker, he has been on a self-search mode himself, for the last 20 years under the guidance of his Guru Swami Debanand. He is well conversant with Indian Philosophy.
It is in human nature to look towards a better tomorrow. So, Invariably we begin life with high hopes and aspirations. Accordingly, we set our dream destination. Dreams are necessary for reaching heights one is capable of, as they serve a focus to reach an objective. Since time immemorial the Moon fascinated and evoked man's curiosity, seen every day - yet unknown. A longing to know and understand, it led scientists to send man on the Moon. Yet, not everybody's dreams get fulfilled. Non-realization often brings in frustrating experiences. Why? Are we so helplessly fated?
I was debating the above question, when a realized master showed me the way-my Guru Swami Debanand Giri. He asked me to look within and get into 'self-search mode' for answers. "Unlike other Godmen, you didn't ask me to seek the divine?" I asked. "Do you think that the divine is an abstract reality lying somewhere at a distance, which you need to reach out seeking a boon for securing success?" He countered. Elaborating further, he said: "Divinity is a living reality. The living world with all its magnitude, diversity, and its complex dynamism, which includes you, me, and all, is nothing but divine manifestation. The forces that hold the key to intelligent functioning of this dynamic world, individually and collectively, is again nothing but divine power. Instead of searching for an abstract reality, it is better to become aware of living realities of life. You have so far prayed enough seeking divine blessings of deities in popular circulation, and yet you are clueless. Instead, take charge of yourself. Explore and become aware of your inner self. Reinvent yourself and see for yourself how empowered you become. Not only that, you may then understand what divinity really means."
I was going through a very difficult phase in life. There was darkness all across with not even a trace of light in sight anywhere around. I was desperately groping in the dark looking for an escape. I had nearly reached a dead end when in a sudden turn of events, I came across a torchbearer who asked me to look within for the light.
Now I had a designated task - to get into a self-search mode as suggested by my Guru. The urge gained momentum because my curious, but restless mind wished to unravel the reasons underlying the frustrating experiences I had been going through, despite my best intentions and efforts. I believed, it would also help me to put my not-so-happy current situation in perspective, and in turn, may also offer the necessary lead to come out of my present mess. I did not have anything yet - a way or a process - on my radar. I began contemplating how to begin, when one fine morning, in one of my silent moments, I got into a self-reflective mode. My past began to flash in my mind in a chronological order, like the scenes from a film. It was a start. An effective one at that.
Like all ambitious people, I had begun life with a wish to be in control of my life like a 'free bird', which could fly at its sweet will. I wished to make it to my dream destination unhindered and enjoy a successful life on my own exclusive terms. However, as life progressed, I had to contend with unforeseen oddities and struggles, and things did not proceed on expected lines. So arose the question: Was the very idea of becoming a free bird just a wishful thinking? Or, by some chance, was it really achievable?
