The incidences of dyspepsia or indigestion along with more chronic conditions of the digestive system are increasing day by day and so is the use of popular patent medicines. These medicines, which no doubt give us a certain amount of temporary relief are in fact the greatest contributors to the more chronic conditions that we suffer from later on. In the opinion of the author if we wish to have a healthy and profitable life we should avoid such crutches as often as possible, and pay much more attention to our dietary habits and general life-style.
This of course is easier said than done. The fact is that for an ordinary human being the pressures of life are so great that he is not even able to take regular meals, regular exercise or even regular sleep or rest. There are ever-in-creasing targets to meet and those within timescales, which our forefathers would have scoffed at as being unrealistic and impossible.
If we are to accept the facts as placed before us by the author, it is time for us to rethink about our lives and consider what are the real priorities. Do we really need all that greasy food that we have become accustomed to? Do we re-ally not have enough time to allow our bodies a chance to recuperate and heal? Unless we ourselves are willing to realise that something is wrong we face a life of ulcers, stomach up-sets and even heart disease.
To really understand this it is necessary to understand the way our body works. Once we are able to do this it becomes apparent that the life styles of previous generations have led us down the path of general degeneration. But as the old adage says it is never too late to change, especially if it is for the better. A change in eating habits, a change in our approach to the treatment of stomach ailments alongside a more balanced style of living will provide us with an opportunity to start our lives afresh.
An abrupt break with nature has given rise to most of the ills that we face today. The furtherthat we move away from our natural way of life the greater are the chances of disease and discomfort. This is the underlying message of this book and unless we are able to appreciate this it will be very difficult for us to lead a normal and healthy life.
