Preface

In the Indian philosophy and metaphysics, yoga is a very profound and significant term which has been reflecting in the Holy Vedas, the Upanishads, the Gita and the Puranas from the times immemorial. This yoga has been frequently used in our scriptures repeatedly in the techniques of self-realization, Samaadhi and man's general dealing in life. Our modern saints have made our 'yoga in the Gita' globally popular as the yoga guru Lord Krishna had employed this term in context of various stages of life - in victory and defeat; in the situation's congeniality and non-congeniality, and in pains and pleasures. Summing up its root meaning the Lord says that remaining unperturbed and steadfast in every situation is yoga. According to Maharshi Arvind seeking communion with Lord Almighty and attaining it is the essence of yoga.

A few months back, following the untiring efforts of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 21st June 2015 was celebrated as the 'First International Yoga Day' in 192 countries, 251 cities by more than 2 billion people! The Indian Prime Minister startled all by himself performing yoga exercise that day publicly on the Rajpath of India's capital city Delhi. That day the whole world appeared to move on the 'Yogapath'. That proud spectacle made every Indian's heart expand by a few inches in utter delight. It is generally perceived that the knowledge acquired publicly, scientifically and traditionally is Dharma and riddance from all desires is yoga. Doing any work with total concentration is also yoga and he who has no difference in his practice and preaching is the real yogi. But the question is that should this yoga remain confined to just 21st June or should it enlighten our lives forever? Should it not become the part of our routine-system (in the schools. colleges and in the Defence installations) and should it be not inculcated into our very psyche.
