About the Book This book is a long pending necessity. This is necessary to build the bridges of knowledge between the East and the West.

There is so much of channeled knowledge that has to be gathered briefly at a place and made available to the seekers of truth for preparation, to enter the New Age. This is an attempt in that direction. This is a New Age primer.

This bold venture was taken up by the members of the Study Centre as a challenge and an opportunity. In just a year's time, they gathered a large quantity of knowledge from books and Internet, scrutinized it, selected the matter, contemplated on it and finally got each point validated and clarified by the Rishis in the higher planes by Intuition. With this rare attempt, they also evolved a Method of Study.

This book was written by all the members in parts. Somayaji edited and re-wrote the book in record time. He led the team and the team led him. I participated in the final stages of the work. But I participated in the joy, fun and love of these wonderful people all through the work. I felt younger with them always. I feel the book is a celebration of their dedication and love.

Preface After we completed the work on "New Age Realities" in August 2008, we began the study work on the events that were expected to occur in the year 2012. Since a lot was being heard about the year 2012 in the media and on the Internet, we wanted to understand the mysteries about them and we took up the year 2012 as a subject for study.

While we were in the middle of our research in early 2009 under the guidance of Guruji Krishnananda, there were new and amazing revelations. Some of these revelations changed our understanding of certain New Age events that were expected to occur.

One of the main revelations was the effects of the Photon Belt and the Galactic Alignment on the Spiritual condition of humanity. These two events have the potential to affect the very arrival of the New Age itself. Because of these new possibilities, we have revised the contents of this book wherever it seemed necessary. The original text is preserved and the new revelations are added.

While the new revelations suggest that the New Age may begin in the year 2018 itself, it is still a possibility and not a certainty yet because a lot depends on us, the citizens of this world.

It is possible that those who embrace the ways of the New Age may actually enter it, while those who do not may continue their journey for the remainder of the transitory period of 432 years from 1974, growing at their own pace.

Keeping these possibilities in mind, we present you the second edition of "New Age Realities".

Introduction This book has been written with the objective of helping the reader find answers to questions such as, what is New Age, who are the New Agers, what authentic New Age knowledge is available .in the East and the West, is there a common ground between them and what are the implications of this knowledge for the present.

Knowledge regarding the New Age, which is the inevitable destiny of humanity, exists in the East, the West and the rest of the world. Much of it is not new knowledge; it is ancient knowledge about the New Age or the Golden Age that is being interpreted in new ways by many.

This is not meant to be one more book with the knowledge that is already widely available. It addresses some of the important differences across many versions of the knowledge regarding New Age Realities and provides new knowledge and insights by going beyond the East and the West.

Like the four seasons in a year, there are four Ages in a larger cycle of Time. A cycle is ending now and we are at the beginning of a new cycle, which begins with what is commonly known as the Golden Age or the New Age. Like the seasons, the conditions in each Age are different, ranging from the most Spiritual (Golden Age) to the most Material (Dark Age or Kali Yuga).

So, the phrase 'New Age' refers to the knowledge of life in the Golden Age, its time of arrival, the knowledge of how to prepare ourselves to enter it without suffering and also the knowledge of how to prepare our world as a whole to enter it without many upheavals or calamities.

One may wonder why are we speaking of suffering and destruction in the face of the 'Golden' Age. The Golden Age, as the name suggests, is a time when Man brings out his Spiritual best and will live a life full of Divinity. At present, our world is dominated by selfishness, greed, falsehood, hatred, jealousy and lack of compassion, to name a few. These traits cannot survive in the Golden Age, which is the epitome of selflessness, expandedness, compassion, Truth and unconditional Love.

One cannot enter the Golden Age without embodying such qualities. For someone who is selfish and greedy, being selfless and generous can be very painful. The extent of suffering, if at all, depends on .the kind of traits we have and how easy or difficult it is for us to embrace the values of the Golden Age.

So, the suffering is not caused by the New Age; it is caused by our strong attachment to the old Age and the old ways.

There are many occult practices and rituals that are categorized by some as 'New Age'. Practices like past-life regression, aroma therapy, gem therapy, various forms of healing and a long list of such activities are carried out under the banner of 'New Age'. There are even shops that sell 'New Age' articles to solve all kinds of problems. And there is no shortage of 'New Age' gurus, who are ever ready to sell concoctions of fancy Yogasanas, Pranayama and bizarre forms of Meditation such as 'Dancing Meditation' or 'Dynamic Meditation' in the name of spirituality.
