About the Author Dr. S. Chidambarathanu Pillai was born on 3rd March, 1934 at Eraniel, Kanyakumari District, TamilNadu. His fa ther was Dr. A. Siddhi Vinayagam Pillai and mother Bhagavathi Ammal. He belongs to a family of native doctors and scholars for fourty-four generations.

He is highly qualified and has held Senior Class I Officer positions in Government Services.

After his graduation in different disciples from various Universities, he was engaged in the Research and Develop ment of Siddha Medicine for about four decades. He is the Founder and the Director of Siddha Medical Literature Research Centre with headquarters at Madras-600 102. This Institute which came into being in 1955 is the first of its kind to impart training in Siddha Medicine in English Language.

From the history of Tamil literature it is understood that during the progress of gradual evaluation after the origin of the human orgenism only. the development of civilization ought to have been occurred in this universe, with the result, during the prehistoric period itself our ancients have wisely devised traditionally the system of life and charted out some scripts about the correct method of living. and that the Siddhars were considered to be the pioneers in this art and the system of their teaching was named as Siddha System.
