In the entire Sanskrit literature Vatsaraja is the only author whose so many dramas, all of a different vari ety, viz. a Vyayoga (Kirätarjiniya), a Bhāņa (Karpuracarita), a Prahasana (Hasyacuḍāmaņi), an Ihamṛga (Rukminiharaṇa), a Dima (Tripuradaha), and a Samavakāra (Samudramathana) are known to 45. Moreover it is very significant to know that Vatsarāja belongs to a historical place named Bundelakhanda (Jejakabhukti).
