The universe is the projection of God. God is the Great Fear (Mahad bhayam), as it were, whom everything obeys implicitly. He is like a raised thunderbolt (vajram udyatam) for fear of whom all the forces in Nature and all the gods perform their respective functions. For fear of Him the fire bums, the sun shines, the rain pours, the wind blows, and death stalks everywhere.
The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad says that by the immutable Law (Prashasane) of this Abiding Reality, the sun, the moon, the earth (and all other things in the universe) are held I their proper places and perform their functions duly. The rishis declare emphatically and unequivocally that God is Love self (anandam). According to them, it is God's love that is the entre and the circumference, the be-all and end-all of creation is not power and wisdom and omnipotence that can be regarded as noteworthy attributes of God, but it is His Love and Love alone that furnishes a valid explanation for the existence of le universe and provides a natural motive for the advent of the Incarnations. The Incarnations of God personify the Principle of Love and teach us how to love God.
In the auspicious year of the 175th Birth Anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna, we are presenting this small book. If the book sincerely read and meditated upon, it will help develop one's spiritual life.
It is my hope that readers, in their individual and collective life, will be inspired to emulate the loving concern of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda for humanity.
I express my deep gratitude to Helen for her help.
