The present volume consists of the First, Second and Third of a Series of Tibetan Readers by L.M. DORJI. These three Readers (First, Second and Third) are prepared by late Lobzang Mingyur who was an Instructor in Tibetan in the University of Calcutta for a number of years. During his teaching experience he realised the difficulties and problems of Indian students and so he took steps for preparing a series of Tibetan Readers. As for many years these Readers are out of print and are not available to the students so I made attempts to reprint and edit them with English Translation of the First Reader only. 'Thus I have tried to fulfill to some extent a long felt desideratum. I convey my heart-felt gratitude to the respected Vice-Chancellor, Professor Asis Kumar Banerjee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Professor Suranjan Das and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Business Affairs and Finance) Professor Tapan Kumar Mukherjee, Calcutta University for their kind permission to get the Tibetan Readers reprinted. I am grateful to Gyatso Lama for his interest and labour.
I also take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to Sri Pradip Kumar Ghosh, Superintendent, Calcutta University Press for expediting the printing work of these Readers.
