Manjushri is shown holding a blazing sword in his right hand in Thangkas. It is said that he cuts through ignorance to reveal the clarity of understanding with his sword. In addition, there are five Tathagatas that are depicted above Manjushri in this Thangka. Which is a characteristic of Shakyamuni Buddha and the other celestial Buddhas. Buddhist practices typically use representations of these five Tathagatas to help practitioners overcome obstacles to enlightenment and the mind. At the bottom, Vajrapani and Alvaloketshwara are also discernible. When Avalokiteshvara are depicted together in a Thangka, it highlights the importance of compassion and knowledge on the spiritual path. But Vajrapani supplies the power and defense needed to get over the difficulties and roadblocks that come up on the spiritual path.
