Bhaktivinoda Thakura is an intimate associate of Sacinandana Sri Gaurasundara, who is adorned with the complexion and bhava of Sri Radha and who delivers the fallen souls in the age of Kali. Sri Bhaktivinoda appeared in this world in order to spread Sri Harinama – Sankirtana and to propagate pure bhakti and in particular rupanuga (raganuga) bhakti thus fulfilling the inner longing of sriman mahaprabhu. He appeared on 2nd September, 1838 in a highly educated and espected family in a village named viranagara near Sri Mayapura within the district of Sri Navadvipa - Dhama, West Bengal. He disappeared from this world on 23rd june 1914 in the city of Calcutta. He wrote approximately one hundred books on bhakti in Sanskrit, Bengali, Hindi English Oriya, and other languages. For this reason enlightened persons have called him the seventh Gosvami and the Bhagiratha who initiated the mighty flowing river of bhakti in the modern age.
He revealed the place of Sri Gauranga’s appearance at the Yoga Pitha in Sri Mayapura and also begot Srila Bhatisiddhanta Saraswati. Further more by his influential and impeccable discourse , articles and books about pure bhakti, and by his establishing sri nama Hatta, or the marketplace of the holy name, in every town and village, he laid the foundation for widespread distribution of rupanuga bhakti throughout the world. Today the outcome of this is directly visible everywhere. The sound vibration of Congregational chanting of the holy names of Gaura and Krsna resounds in every corner of the world, and even in far off western and Eastern countries enormous, opulent temples have been built.
Sripada Bhaktivedanta Vana Maharaja was born in the Midnapura district of West Bengal in January, 1959, near the pada tirtha of Caitanya Mahaprabhu called Pichalda Mentioned in the Sri Caitanya-Caritamrta. Since his boyhood Maharaja was very attached to Sri caitanya mahaprabhu and Sri Nityananda Prabhu and worshipped Their lotus feet.
He received his bachelor degree in Economics from Calcutta university in 1980, His uncle Sripada Bhaktivedanta Madhusudhana Maharaja, who is to this day temple commander of the Devananda Gaudiya Math inspired him to dedicate his life to the service of Sri Radha and Krsna.
In 1981, Maharaja joined the Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti and would regularly hear hari Katha from paramapujyapada nitya lila Pravista astotara sata Sri Srimad Bhakti Raksaka Sridhara Goswami Maharaja who blessed him, and asked Maharaja to stay in his temple. However, Maharaja was very attached to Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja.
By the Causeless mercy of our eternal spiritual masters, His Divine Grace Om Visnupada Paramahamsa Parivrajakacarya 108 Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja and His dive grace om visnupada Paramahamsa Parivrajakacarya 108 Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Vamana Gosvami Maharaja, we are published the lectures given by Sripada Bhaktivedanta Vana Maharaja based on the book named Sri harinama Cintamani of Srila Bhaktivinoda thakura.
Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura compiled Sri Harinama Cintamani, which is the discussion between Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Srila Haridasa Thakura in Jagannatha Puri on the topic of the holy names of the Lord, especially the Hare krsna maha Mantra, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura saw this discussion take place during his Samadhi and wrote it down in book form for the benefit of conditioned jivas of this kali-yuga.
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Srila Haridasa Thakura discussed the various aspects of the holy name, including the stages such as nama-abhasa, and in particular the ten offenses and in particular the holy name and how one can become free from these offenses.
The Last chapter of Sri Harinama Cintamani discusses bhajana-pranali, the process of performing bhajana.
After this incident, brahma prayed to Sri Krsna. He saw that Sri Krsna had done something wonderful, but Sri Krsna never looked towards him at that time. Brahma was rolling down on the earth, but Sri Krsna was rolling down on the earth, but Sri Krsna neglected him. All the Cowherd boys called to krsna ‘O Cauma, cauma!. That four faced one who is he? But Sri Krsna never even looked at him.
After that, in Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s lila brahma became a Mohammedan, and he was very, very humble. If there is a very poor man, and an aristocratic and wealthy Person will give him a slap, what will that poor man do? If he demand, ‘Why are you slapping me? That wealthy person may give him more and more slaps. Therefore, there is nothing for the poor person to do except tolerate. For this reason Sri Krsna wanted Brahma to come as an ignorant Muslim boy who did not even go to school>
We should therefore learn tolerance from Srila Haridasa Thakura. He was beaten in Twenty two market places, and yet he was praying, ‘O Krsna save them. Be merciful to them. Why did he pray in that way? He was thinking. They are not beating me; my karma is beating me. They have not done anything wrong.
We think that another person is our enemy because he is giving us so many problems. We think,’ I should cut his head’ but this is very very bad. Those kinds of person who want revenge can never do bhajana.
Why are problems coming? They due to the conceptions of I and mine. We have the false ego that I am the president of America. I can manage the whole world. I am so wealthy. I am so beautiful I know so many thing. I am more intelligent than my wife, children and all my relatives. I can control all. What is this ? In the world of Srila Swami Maharaja it is nonsense. We should not be like this.
If you want to chant harinama, first try to be like Srila Haridasa Thakura. When he was a boy, He would meet with Advaita Acarya and always Chant Krsna’s name. The zamidar (Landowner) who was like the king, became envious of him. This Zamidar thus sent a very beautiful teenage prostitute to deviate him. But what happened? Although he was seeing a half naked, very beautiful teenage girl who was a begging him, ‘You fulfil my lust he was unmoved.
Can you control your lust like Srila Haridasa Thakura? I think that you would not be able to control your selves. Only Haridasa thakura could do so.Not even Visvamitra or Brahma could control themselves, and once Narada was also deviated. He was not actually deviated, but he posed like that. He was showing us A person like me, who is liberated, can be controlled by lust, so what to say of you. In Other words he is saying Even if you think if you think you are advanced. You should be so careful. Brahma and Siva also posed in this way. Brahma our first guru, could not control himself when he came attracted to his daughter, and sankara became naked and ran towards mohini (the incarnation of Krsna as a woman) to embrace Her. Parvati was running behind Sankara and calling out, oh, what are you doing; but he was at that time shameless .
