Publication of this book "Siddha Maruthuva Adippadaikal" is an eye-opener of the principles of Siddha Medicine to the common public and the people of Siddha Medical field In addition to the previous publications like "Siddha Maruthuva Varalaru" etc. by Tamil Valarchi Kazhagam, this volume adds prestige to the Siddha system of medicine. In this book the relationship between the universe and the body of mankind is described in "Andathil Ullathe Pindam" chapter The principles of 5 elements, description about the principles of Siddha Medicine the 96 Thathuvas are also written in the following chapters. Different characters/ constitution of the body, way of knowing 'visible' and 'invisible' matters etc. (Alavai) through 1 Observation, 2 Inference, 3 Literature (Authority), 4. Perception, 5.

Presumption, 6. Comparison, 7 Inference by elimination, 8 Probability, 9 Tradition and 10 Natural Inference are explained in detail Eight types of 'yoga', eight supernatural powers of Siddha, the role of Astrology in medicine and different schools of thought of scientific facts are also narrated in this text.

Regarding diseases, the diseases of 5 different areas of land (Inthinai), method of diagnosis with disease's origin, role of 'Nadi' in eight methods of diagnosis and the day to day disciplines suggested by Siddhars are given in detail.

Apart from this, description about Medicine (pharmacology) and its types like Herbal, Minerals/ Metals and a chapter about 'Diet' are also presented In the last but one chapter methods to lead a disease free life which results in longevity of life, like `Kalpa' are given Finally the supreme part of Siddha Medicine, 'Muppu' is also explained in detail, which gives me great pleasure The pleasure preparing this work is due to the opportunity and encouragement given by the President of Tamil Valarchi Kazhagam, the great educationist, scholar and former Vice-Chancellor of three renowned Universities Dr VC Kulandaiswamy It gives me immense happiness to express my sincere thanks to him I also wish to record my thanks to the Vice Presidents Dr N Mahalingam, Dr S. P Thiyagarajan, Dr J.G. Kannappan and the Secretary and Treasurer Dr P R. Nakkeeran for their co-operation in bringing this book. I personally thank my colleagues and senior scholars of Siddha Medicine, namely Dr J.R. Krishnamoorthy, Prof Dr P Jayaprakash Narayanan, Dr K Natarajan, Prof Dr V Subramanian, Prof Dr K.
