Poet, lyricist, writer, film maker- Gulzar has created some of the most beautiful moments for all of us to enjoy.
His poetry paints pictures of pain and loneliness, love and life; it deals with the multitude of emotions present in the realm of human relationships. Not just his poetry but also his scripts and lyrics lead the listener into what he calls a state of realization. It is probably his understanding and interpretation of human relationships that make his writings so very beautiful.
A man with several matchless facets, he writes under the pseudonym Gulzar. He has written the scripts for many landmark movies, published several collections of poems and short stories and is the recipient of several prestigious awards. His tryst with poetry is an unending affair filled with passion and love for his creative pursuits and today he continues to explore the unknown realms of lyrical beauty as fervently as ever.
In Abida sings Kabir he takes a moment to introduce and explain each piece of poetry and the following rendition, in his flawless style, thus enhancing our experience of the album as a whole.
Begum Abida Parveen - impassioned and majestic, her brilliant renditions drive the listener towards ecstasy and intoxication. Witness her as she sings the ageless poetry of mystic poet Kabir, once more establishing her mastery gently and sparingly.
