Through the lonely wilderness walk the divine couple, Lord Shiva and His Devi Parvati. Lord and Mother of the existential matrix, they are portrayed together after a style influenced by the folk art of Basholi. Vivid colours pervade the simple paper canvas - brilliant red skies of the sunset, the jewel tones of the canopy from which He is plucking for Her a pristine sprig, and the striking yellow of His tiger-skin loincloth.

The same contrasts sharply with the snowy whiteness of His skin. His wife, Devi Parvati, is the finest female deity of the Hindu pantheon. She is clad in a lehenga, as is the norm with rural women of the region which influences the painting. In His arms She stands securely, the eccentricities of His appearance endearing Him to Her even more. Intently they both gaze at the flowers which would soon be part of Her shringar.

Afore them is an ethereal vision of their intimacy. Upon the tiger-skin mat of Lord Shiva lies Devi Parvati in His arms. As He gazes skywards with Her nestling up to Him, She eyes Her husband with a great deal of wifely desire and devotion. So realistic is their stance that one could almost listen to the rustling of Her silk and the tinkling of Her pearls as She motions in His embrace.
