Tree of Life

Tree of Life

Mithila or Madhubani art is one of the most practised styles in the entire Indian subcontinent; rooted from the Mithila region of Bihar where women used to paint their artistic skills using fingers, twigs, brushes, matchsticks or nib pens by pigments or natural dyes on paper; it mostly depicts their traditions, rituals, festivals and the astounding beauty of nature in eye-catchy geometric patterns. Madhubanis are generally painted in vibrant colors of red, yellow, orange, blue etc, but the one shown here is also an equal beauty, painted in a usual yellow background and gigantic black branches flourished with distinctive, tiny greyish leaves.

This painting acts as a major help for preserving the day-to-day depleting environment by giving an outrageous message of afforestation. It depicts a magnified and an ever-growing tree spreading out its branches, and bunches of leaves intermingled in a chaotic yet finite style.

As the title says, ‘Tree of Life’, It is a symbol of positive energy, immortality and strength, directing us a way towards new beginnings. This intricate network of branches is symbolic of the continuous growth and expansion of many generations, fulfilling their wishes and hopes. This combination of colors allows it to be a unique and peaceful work of art that can truly dignify any empty wall.
