‘Mahishasur Mardini’ - the slayer of Mahishasura is the ferocious and formidable manifestation of the Devi. The buffalo-headed demon, when attained powers to challenge the heavens, got the gods worried. It is then, that the Goddess fought the demon for 10 days, emerging victorious on the final day of Vijaya Dashami. This bronze tablet illustrates Devi, loaded with weapons, riding the Singha as it charges on the Mahishasura, taking his pride to dust.
